Who we are
We are a core part of the Home Office with a team of 200 scientists and engineers working to support the Home Office's key objectives.
We are part of the Home Office's Science and Research Group, reporting to the Chief Scientific Adviser Paul Wiles. Our Director is Alan Pratt.
Our expertise is respected around the world, with police forces and security services regarding our work as a benchmark for quality, innovation and scientific integrity.

Where we are
We are based at two sites in the UK; Sandridge in Hertfordshire - directions and maps to Sandridge, and Langhurst in West Sussex - directions and maps to Langhurst.

Our strategy
We will help deliver Home Office objectives, by supporting Ministers, the Chief Scientific Adviser and policy units, working in partnership with the Police Service, Serious and Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), Identity and Passport Service (IPS), UK Border Agency (UKBA), National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA), Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and other key partners.
